(i)Structure was formed under the name of PKS Information
Services (“PKSIS”) in 1987, by Kiewit Diversified
Group, a subsidiary of Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc., in
an attempt to control growing information technology
cost and provide improved customer service. (i)Structure's
first data center in Omaha, Nebraska, was built the
next year, and provided Kiewit with a first-class
facility for its data processing needs.
As corporations on a global level were becoming more
challenged to find highly flexible and manageable
information technology solutions to meet the quickly
increasing and changing IT demands, Kiewit recognized
a definite need for (i)Structure's services in the
marketplace. In 1990, (i)Structure as PKSIS incorporated
and began offering full-service computer outsourcing
services commercially.
During the 90s, (i)Structure expanded its presence
in the IT outsourcing industry with a second data
center in Tempe, Arizona. The second data center was
built to accommodate demand for (i)Structure services.
On March 31, 1998, Kiewit Diversified, (i)Structure's
former parent company, changed its name to Level 3
Communications, Inc. and split from Peter Kiewit Sons',
Inc. Level 3 (Nasdaq:LVLT) is an international communications
and information services company.
PKSIS changed its name to (i)Structure in 2000 to
reflect the company's focus on IT Infrastructure and
commitment to service excellence. Since the formation
of (i)Structure, customer satisfaction has been the
driving force behind all of its actions. (i)Structure
believes high-quality service is the only sustainable
advantage in the marketplace over the long-term.
On October 25, 2005, InfoCrossing signed an agreement
to acquire (i)Structure from Level 3 Communications.
